What's-the-best-job-for-me

My work experience

I have five years work experience, and I change the job three times. Sadly, I still fail to find the best job for me.

first job

I must thank for the first job. Because she give me a chance to become a software programmer. I have no idea I will fall in love with code evenow. When I was graduated, I had an offer from a famous company, but I refused. Because I don’t think I’m competent to be a software engineer. I think attend the first job will let me do some kind of eletric machine control, but not true. I went round a big circle, but learned how to write C++ after all. I studied very hard, and got fun from the learning. I work hard, coded over 100,000 line in one year. My manager praised me highly, but I had met my bottle-neck. There more and more knowleges I don’t know, which this company couldn’t give me the answer. I could studied all by myself, but I wanted to learn faster and faster. So it’s better to find a bigger platform. Just then the famous company contacted me, so I quited the first job and toke the second job.

second job

The second job was very hard. Surely my technology growed up fastly. But I began to detest it. Because it asked me to work overtime. Here was the reason I said it was awful:

  1. During the work day, I work from 9:00 to 23:00, or later.
  2. I was asked to work almost every Saturday, only the last Saturday of the month would be paid, the else were all free.
  3. I worked the whole-night at least once a month.
  4. They didn’t give me time to study. They said you should study during your off-time, the company paid you for work, not study. But you know, I only got sleep time when I left from the compay. I didn’t have any time to study!

This was not what I wanted. So I quited.

third job

I found the third job, which was easy for me. My salary was halved compared with the previous job. But I didn’t mind. I hoped to prove my ability and then I would get a reasonable remuneration. But my dream broke up. The company didn’t accept my plan. I wanted to integrate Internet technology with traditional manufacturing. But they told me what I thought is unrealistic. Although I told I could do it all myself. And I can build the foundation quickly. But still rejected. How disappointed I am! I couldn’t found the way to show myself. I had no chance to improve my skills. I had no chance to promote my treatment. And most importantly, I don’t want to waste my life! So I want to quit. But where should I belong?

Do I belong to ThoughtWorks?

Now, I still work for the third job. I hope to find a job that is best for me, then I will quit and take the new one. But not now.

I heared ThoughtWorks before. But I get to know ThoughtWorks recently. The ThoughtWorks is a software company and a community of passionate, purpose-led individuals. They don’t ask to work overtime, they ask efficiency. They ask someone who has high learning ability. I like freedom, and I am self-disciplined. I think we will both like each other if we are both what we told.

Another reason, I like mrico-services. It’s what the ThoughtWorks good at. It’s what I want. The mirco-services is to analyse the big system, and split it into some small services. The back-end services need node.Js, Java, C++, the fronted services is programmed by JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Vue, Backbone, React, Angular and so on. We use Jenkins to build, and monitor the code health. We use rancher to run the docker container. It’s all I learned. And It’s all the ThoughtWorks may asked. So I want to have a try.

The best job for me

Thinking seriously, I think the best job for me is like this:

  1. The job is challenging. The job need me to refresh my skill and keep study.
  2. The job ask effiency, not the overtime work.
  3. The job gives me a reasonable paid.
  4. The job don’t risk my life.
